Security ★ — in-window: defensive-cyber foundation model

Corma raises a $60M seed from Sequoia to build AI that defends against AI-powered attacks

Tel Aviv + SF-based Corma (CEO Alon Pluda; ~20 in Tel Aviv, founded 2025) came out on Aug 10 with a $60M seed led by Sequoia, alongside Khosla Ventures and Coatue. It is building what it calls the first foundation model purpose-built for defensive cybersecurity — trained to read logs and audits and "find the needle in the haystack" rather than to write code. Early deployments cut threat-response times 94%+ and expanded coverage up to 15×; already working with Fortune 100/500. New to the tracker.

Security / Fintech ★ — landmark exit (backfilled)

Visa to acquire Israeli fraud-detection firm BioCatch for $2.4B

Announced Aug 3 (missed in last week's sweep): Visa is buying behavioral-biometrics pioneer BioCatch (founded 2011 by Avi Turgeman + the late Benny Rosenbaum) for $2.4B cash to fight AI-powered scams. BioCatch reads thousands of behavioral signals — typing, touch, device, network — to flag fraud in real time; it protects 1.8B devices and 760M users across 350+ banks in 21 countries. Permira took control at a $1.3B valuation in 2024, so this is a sharp step-up. New to the tracker.

AI ★ / Security — backfill (CTech 2026 most-promising)

Echo hits $50M in 10 months for an AI-native, vulnerability-free software OS

Backfilled this week: Echo (CEO Eilon Elhadad + CTO Eylam Milner, ex-Unit 8200 / Ofek; earlier founded Argon, acquired by Aqua for ~$100M) raised a $35M Series A in Dec 2025 (N47 Fund-led; Notable Capital, Hyperwise, SentinelOne) for $50M total. Its AI agents rebuild open-source components from the ground up — stripping flaws instead of endlessly patching CVEs — and it is deployed at Vectra AI, UiPath, Varonis and Port. A notable cyber name the tracker had been missing.

Deep Tech ★ — quantum backfill (§13 gap)

QuamCore's million-qubit-in-one-cryostat bet closes the tracker's quantum gap

Backfilled to address the §13 quantum / deep-tech gap: QuamCore raised a $26M Series A (Aug 2025; Sentinel Global-led with Arkin, Viola and existing backers, plus a $4M Israel Innovation Authority grant; $35M total). Its architecture integrates superconducting control logic inside the cryostat, aiming to scale to 1,000,000 qubits in a single cryostat — attacking the cabling and thermal bottlenecks that block large-scale quantum. Joins Quantum Art, Classiq and Q-Factor on the tracker.

Ecosystem — creator-economy exit (backfilled)

Razer buys Tel Aviv's StreamElements in a distressed asset deal

Also Aug 3: gaming-hardware maker Razer acquired the assets of Israeli-founded livestreaming toolkit StreamElements (founded 2016 by Gil Hirsch, Or Perry and Doron Nir), ending months of sale talks and layoffs. Terms were undisclosed but believed to be well below the ~$111M StreamElements had raised — a reminder that not every exit is a step-up. New to the tracker as an exit reference.

Biotech ★ — watch (no in-window round)

Still no Israeli biotech / medtech raise inside the window

A fifth straight quiet week for biotech financing in-window; capital keeps concentrating in cyber, AI, quantum and chips. The §13 biotech-depth gap stays open — a dedicated diagnostics / therapeutics sweep (Diagnostic Robotics, Nucleai, Sight) is queued for the next refresh.
